Tech giant Google has hired former PayPal Holdings Inc. executive Arnold Goldberg to manage its payments division, according to Bloomberg.

Bill Ready, Google’s President of Commerce, told Bloomberg that Goldberg’s hiring is part of the company's strategic line to integrate broader financial services, including cryptocurrencies.

Although the company still does not accept cryptocurrencies for transactions. Google has partnered with crypto firms like Coinbase and BitPay to support virtual Visa debit or crypto cards for Google Pay. Ready said Google is pursuing more similar partnerships.

Ready told Bloomberg: “Crypto is something we pay a lot of attention to...As user demand and merchant demand evolves, we’ll evolve with it.”
