Cryptocurrency venture capital firm Castle Island Ventures is raising hundreds of millions of dollars for its latest fund, Castle Island Ventures III, three people familiar with the matter told The Blockworks.

The raising is expected to close in the next few weeks, the exact amount is not yet known. Castle Island Ventures III, the firm’s third fund, will follow the strategy of the first two funds by dedicating about 20 percent of its funds to early-stage tokens, typically making early-stage investments before tokens launch, the sources said.

Founded in 2018 and based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Castle Island is led by co-founders and managers Matthew Walsh and Nic Carter, with a portfolio that includes Bitwise, BlockFi, Casa, ErisX, Matrixport, MoonPay, and River Financial.
