On Saturday, three monetary and cryptocurrency experts talked about the challenges and prospects of distributed ledger technologies (DLT) during the Bitcoin Expo 2020 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

During the discussion the panelists recognized that DLT could improve the existing global monetary system, however, they found that problems regarding privacy, interoperability, and scalability of blockchains still persist.

The panel was comprised of International Monetary Fund (IMF) economist Sonja Davidovic, MIT Digital Currency Initiative research scientist Robleh Ali and the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston’s director of applied fintech research Bob Bench.
