Cryptocurrency exchange Bybit announced Monday that it has received in-principle approval to operate a full-scale virtual asset business in the UAE, with plans to move its global headquarters from Singapore to the UAE. Bybit co-founder and CEO Ben Zhou said the full suite of products and services will be available in the UAE from April 2022.

In addition, Singapore-based cryptocurrency exchange Crypto.com said in a statement that it will open its Middle East and Africa regional headquarters in Dubai and launch a recruitment drive in the coming months to hire up to 200 people.

Dubai has set up the Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) to oversee the industry, awarding virtual asset licenses to cryptocurrency exchange Binance and FTX subsidiary FTX Europe respectively this month.
