Barstool Sports Founder Remains Bitcoin Skeptic but Values its Adoption

The King of Barstool Sports, Dave Portnoy, is participating in his first-ever Miami Bitcoin, a conference dedicated to the cryptocurrency gaining traction around the world. He joined a desk of other co-hosts to discuss all things Miami Bitcoin 2022. 

“I feel like now it’s been seven-eight years I’ve gone in and out,” Portnoy said when talking about his open skepticism. “To be honest, I still am not sure I truly understand all of it, but I know enough people, conferences like this are in it, that’s the place I got to be.” 

But that’s what keeps people like the founder of Barstool Sports and others interested and invested in Bitcoin. With so many companies, people and now even nations involved with Bitcoin, it is clear this momentum is not stopping anytime soon if ever. 

“I think you get to a certain threshold, or momentum, and it’s like the braking point where enough people are behind something involved, that it’s not going anywhere,” Portnoy said. 

The Massachusetts-native said he is most interested in seeing who shows up to this conference and the vibe they bring. Is the event attracting  “crazy people” or “everyday normal people” is one of the questions he is hoping to get answered. 

Portnoy ended the talk saying that he has gone from paper hands to diamond hands, alluding to the fact that he sold previous assets before he should have. On the other side of the coin, diamond hands indicate a person’s ability to hold an asset even when there is immense pressure to sell.
