Russia’s major cryptocurrency legislation, a bill “On Digital Financial Assets,” is set to ban the issuance and circulation of cryptocurrencies, according to a legal executive at the Bank of Russia.

This news is a departure from the original bill “On Digital Financial Assets,” which would allow cryptocurrency trading in Russia, the new change will seemingly ban nearly everything about crypto except for holding.

The news was originally announced in an interview with local news agency Interfax on March 16, Alexey Guznov, head of the legal department at Russia’s central bank.
