On Sunday, American entrepreneur Marc Anderson posted a screenshot of what seemed to be a Twitter user impersonating his name and photo to promote a “free crypto” giveaway, asking users, “What algorithm could possibly catch this type of content?” Newly established Twitter owner, Elon Musk, replied one word: humans.

In addition to the Tesla and SpaceX CEO’s response, billionaire investor Mark Cuban proposed his own unique take on the solution, citing Dogecoin (DOGE) as a possible way to solve this conundrum.

“We add an optimistic roll up to Doge  Everyone puts up 1 doge for unlimited posts. If anyone contests a post and humans confirm it's spam, they get the spammer's Doge. Spammer has to  post 100x more Doge  If it's not spam, the contester loses their Doge.   DogeDAO  FTW !,” Cuban tweeted

In other words, users will put one dogecoin (currently valued at $0.13 per coin at the time of writing) down as collateral. If they post spam or something that is flagged by another person, they may lose that coin and will have to put up 100 DOGE for the right to continue posting. On the contrary, if the contestor of a post contests something that is not spam, they would lose their DOGE.

Basically this system is a monetary system that discourages spam. Of course, many users took to Twitter to voice their skepticism with this solution, pointing out that some scammers can simply “out-contest” the system, because the consequences are relatively low.

Perhaps a way to solve that problem would be to punish repeat offenders at a far greater rate. These are some of the new challenges that Musk will have to solve in order to create a better functioning Twitter, as that was his goal from the inception of his acquisition.

Nevertheless, Dogecoin creator, Shibetoshi Nakamoto, praised Cuban’s suggestion: “I like it. I like it a lot.”
