Bitmain, the mining hardware giant, has launched new firmware designed to prolong the lifespan of its ETH-mining Antminer E3 product.

Bitmain's Antiminer E3 device had a flaw that was expected to make the machine obsolete by April 2020, due to the device's inability to process the increasing size of ethereum's directed acyclic graph (DAG) files. This drop-off in operation would have eventually lead to a notable drop in the ethereum network hashrate.
