Microsoft, the technology giant, has notified hospitals of their vulnerability to ransomware attacks in order to help prevent healthcare institutions from being overwhelmed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

On April 1, the firm published recommendations for hospitals on how to secure their systems and prevent ransomware attacks.

The company said that its network of threat intelligence analysts “identified several dozens of hospitals” that were vulnerable to virtual private networks and other public-facing gateway applications in their systems.
