Cloudwall Capital, a crypto risk management startup founded by former Morgan Stanley executives, has entered the crypto space and is looking to help institutional investors navigate with their first funding round, raising $6.3 million.

The seed funding round was led by venture capital firms LocalGlobe and Illuminate Financial along with investors, including IA Capital Partners, Eberg Capital and NEMO Ventures.

The capital will go toward building their cloud-based platform named Serenity, which will help investors navigate digital asset portfolios by accessing historical data from centralized exchanges and blockchains. It will also allow institutions to run simulations and stress tests on their portfolios to see how they will respond.

“We aim to provide institutional investors with a powerful platform to manage digital asset portfolios that satisfy their investment and risk objectives,” their website says. “We call this platform Serenity.”

While these platforms and services exist in traditional finance, there are fewer examples in the digital asset space. Cloudwall Capital aims to lead the world into, what they call, “the blockchain economy,” through their unique platform.

“We envision a world where every asset has been tokenized, a world we call The Blockchain Economy,” their website says. “To accelerate this transformation, institutional investors need to bring capital to the world’s builders and innovators, and they need tools and insights to invest with confidence.”

Cloudwall Capital was founded last year by a stellar team of executives from various sectors in finance: Kyle Downey, Jia Yng Wee and Ilya Kulyatin. Downey, now CEO of Cloudwall Capital, previously served as the global head of automated risk trading and quantitative investment strategies IT at Morgan Stanley, where he worked for 17 years.

Wee’s most recent endeavor was at Nomura, a Japanese financial services company where she was the head of business management. From 2012 through 2017, Wee worked as the head of operations at Morgan Stanley.

Kulyatin, is a fintech founder who has spent more than a decade in quant research for hedge funds, asset management and market-making.

While this company is still in their inception, they are building a product they expect will lead the financial world into the financial future.
