Operated by Germany’s exchange Deutsche Börse, Eurex is preparing to launch a series of new futures contracts related to the crypto-asset market, according to The Block Crypto. Those who are familiar with the European derivatives exchange’s next steps mention the exchange is planning to launch futures tied to such digital currencies as Bitcoin, Ether, and XRP.
Both CME and Cboe Global Markets launched Bitcoin futures market in 2017, and Deutsche Boerse executives had reportedly been "thinking" about the introduction of futures contracts in 2017, according to CNBC, and experts believed the development in Bitcoin futures market will be critical to attracting more institutional money into the crypto space, but did mention issues, such as the evolving digital currency technology, a lack of regulation and price volatility.
ICE planned to launch Bakkt Bitcoin Futures in 2018 and stated the Bakkt Bitcoin Futures Contract is a “physically settled daily futures contract for bitcoin held in Bakkt Warehouse.”
Yesterday, SEC officially initiated its review of the 45-day process for Bitcoin ETF proposal. The VanEck SolidX Bitcoin ETF proposal, submitted to SEC by CBoe BZX Exchange, appeared in the Federal Register's Wednesday edition yesterday.
Matt Hougan, director of global research at Bitwise, mentioned recently the cryptocurrency ecosystem is currently developing very quickly, which may help bring more new products to market. CoinFLEX CEO, Mark Lamb, also said in 2019 that high-return cryptocurrency futures products are more attractive to traders.
