Hyundai and Petco are aiming to enter the metaverse after filing trademark applications for various digital assets, confirmed by tweets from Mike Kondoudis, a trademark attorney.
While the tweets came on Monday, the applications from both companies were filed on July 6.
Hyundai
Hyundai, an automotive manufacturer headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, plans to enter the metaverse market by offering NFTs, NFT-backed media, virtual clothing, footwear sports gear, avatars and car images.
This application by Hyundai comes a little more than a month after the South Korean automotive manufacturer announced it would provide future mobility experiences in its virtual Hyundai Motorstudio on the Zepeto metaverse platform.
Hyundai first introduced its virtual Motorstudio within Downtown (Future) on Zepeto last year. In Downtown (Future), users can experience various future mobility solutions, tour the S-Hub future mobility transit center, ride the S-A1 urban air mobility vehicle and experience new concepts of S-Link purpose-built mobility.
Petco
Petco, an American pet retailer, also wants to get into the digital asset and metaverse world by filing an application for virtual pet stores, fashion shows, pet supplies, NFTs and NFT-backed media.
The digital world will be a relatively new endeavor for Petco, but they do have past experience of live streaming pet fashion shows and adoption shows. It isn’t that much of a reach for Petco to venture from that into the digital world by showcasing the same sort of show.
