Summary: The Agricultural Bank of China, owned by the Chinese government, is said to have released an application for internal test only of the DCEP.

The Agricultural Bank of China, owned by the Chinese government, is said to have released an application for internal test only of the DCEP (Digital Currency Electronic Payment) developed by China’s central bank, the People’s Bank of China, according to multiple sources.

The mobile phone application, Qianbao (in English: Wallet), is available for download via a web-link found on the Block. However, the application distributed by the Agricultural Bank seems unable to be opened yet. Functions of the application are said to include QR code payment, transaction, digital currency exchange, transaction tracking, wallet management, and more.

The Agricultural Bank of China might have been one of the multiple banks that are starting to test the DCEP. The test begins in several cities in China, such as Shenzhen, a metropolis in Southeast China that links Hong Kong to the mainland. Successful testing may lead to an extensive promotion of the tool.
