According to an official tweet, European Union (EU) lawmakers voted 28-1 on Monday to support the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCAbill, which is expected to be published in the EU’s Official Journal early next year before coming into force in 2024.

Lawmaker Stefan Berger, who chaired the parliamentary negotiations, called the move "good news" in a tweet.

MiCA allows wallets and other crypto service providers to operate across the EU, provided they are registered with national authorities and meet various requirements such as investor protection and financial stability.

“MiCA will ensure a harmonised market, provide legal certainty for crypto-asset issuers, guarantee a level playing field for service providers and ensure high standards for costumer protection,” Berger said in a statement.
