Binance confirmed on Friday that it was acting as an equity investor in Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter, having transferred $500 million two days ago.

Binance founder Changpeng Zhao called the $500 million investment “a small contribution to the cause” in May and said at the time that the most important thing was to reduce scams on the platform.

“Our initial commitment remains the same and we look forward to exploring opportunities to grow the partnership in the future, a Binance spokesperson said.
