Crypto exchange Huobi has denied rumors that it will merge with Poloniex.

The rumor, which was initiated in a report by Colin Wu, was fueled by Justin Sun, a member of an investor group which acquired Poloniex in 2019 and an advisor to Huobi.

“We would like to state for the record that rumors stating Huobi will soon merge with Poloniex are categorically untrue,” Huobi said in an email statement.

Huobi Global was founded in China in 2013 and is currently one of Asia’s largest crypto platforms. It has plans of expanding in the Caribbean, with primary targets of Dominica, Panama, and the Bahamas, according to Sun.
