Reddit has announced that its blockchain-based Reddit Points system was confirmed to be on Ethereum, a decentralized global platform. According to Decrypt, Reddit Points will start with going to influential members of one community, who can trade the points for special memberships to unlock exclusive features in their community. Points will be burned after being consumed.
The distribution policy of the Reddit Points also follows that of bitcoin. The initial distribution includes 50 million points and another 50 million within a year. The number of new points declines annually to amount to a maximum of 250 million tokens.
According to Amazon’s Alexa website rank checker, daily pageview in the past three months of Reddit ranks 7 in the US, and 20 globally.
