The IRS is targeting companies such as Apple, Google, and Microsoft wanting to issue subpoenas for records of taxpayers download history, in search of traces of crypto activity. An excerpt from the slide show, “Grand Jury Subpoena should be considered for Apple, Google, and Microsoft for the Subject’s complete application download history. Each application’s function should be explored to determine whether or not the application can transmit, or otherwise allow, transactions in bitcoin.” Though nothing is set in stone yet, this 181-page slideshow suggests the IRS will be working hard to track down criminal tax evasion cases involving cryptocurrency.
