Canadian bitcoin mining firm Hut 8 has hired Shenif Visram as its new chief financial officer (CFO), according to reports by CoinDesk.
Visram, who is best known for his roles as CFO and chief operating officer (COO) at IBM’s Canadian branch, will replace Shane Downey.
Like many other bitcoin mining firms, Hut 8 has had a shaky year, owing to declining crypto prices and increasing energy costs. Just in the third-quarter of this year, the firm lost C$23.7 million (US $17.4 million).
