Kazakhstan is planning a phased rollout of its central bank digital currency (CBDC), according to Cointelegraph. The decision was revealed following the second phase of testing.

Previously, the country had conducted some research on CBDC. The pilot research recommended the inclusion of market participants in hypothetical scenarios and the use of clear language in regulation. The latest research proposed a phased rollout of the digital currency over a span of three years. 

The central bank of Kazakhstan recommended introducing the CBDC in 2023, with a phased expansion to occur until the end of 2025.
