A Bahamian magistrate judge has granted Sam Bankman-Fried’s request to be extradited to the US, according to reports by CoinDesk.

The former FTX CEO, who initially fought extradition, shocked the court with a turnaround decision when he asked to be extradited to the U.S. during a hearing on Monday.

Magistrate judge Shaka Serville granted Bankman-Fried’s request in the subsequent hearing on Wednesday.

The timing of Bankman-Fried’s extradition remains unclear; however, he may arrive as early as Wednesday afternoon, where he would be prosecuted at New York’s Federal District Court in Manhattan, according to the New York Times.

Bankman-Fried is facing eight felony counts, which could lead to a life sentence if he is convicted.
