U.K. man Wybbo Wiersma was sentenced to four years and six months in prison after he was found guilty of stealing more than 2 million pounds (US$2.5 million) worth of cryptocurrency, the U.K.’s South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) said on Friday.

Wiersma had used an 81-character code he generated to steal IOTA tokens from users all over the world, causing many to lose their businesses and life savings, SEROCU Detective Inspector Rob Bryant said.

The incident involved more than 100 victims.
