The Senate Banking Committee will be holding a hearing on Feb. 14 to examine protections from dangers in the crypto industry, according to reports by CoinDesk.

The hearing, titled “Crypto Crash: Why Financial System Safeguards are Needed for Digital Assets,” is one of the first among many issues to be addressed by the Senate.

Chairman Sherrod Brown had written a letter to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen in November saying he wants to begin serious oversight of crypto. Sen. Tim Scott said in a statement on Thursday that it is important for the committee to create a bipartisan regulatory framework.
