Mario Mazzola, an Italian-Cuban entrepreneur, launches Cuba’s first decentralized Bitcoin exchange, according to a report from news outlet Decrypt on April 23.

While the majority of cryptocurrency businesses stay out of Cuba due to regulatory uncertainties and hefty American sanctions Mazzol decided to launch his “ultra-lightweight” Bitcoin exchange, Qbita, earlier this month.

While Cubans are interested in using virtual currencies many find it difficult to use cryptocurrencies because most exchanges have geo-blocked them from accessing their services.
