A cryptocurrency mining rights bill that prohibits the discrimination of crypto miners has passed the Montana Senate, according to reports by Cointelegraph.

The proposed laws aim to prohibit discriminatory electricity rates charged against crypto miners, protect at-home mining and prevent the use of zoning laws against crypto mining operations.

It also prohibits additional taxes on crypto payments and recognizes digital assets as personal property.

The bill passed in the state Senate with a 37 to 13 vote for and is headed to the House for approval. Once passed there, it will go to Governor Greg Ginforte, who will decide whether to sign it into law.
