Mnuchin states that the tight regulations on cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin, are due to the fact that it is more susceptible to money laundering, unlike cash. Direct quote from Mnuchin, “We are going to make sure that bitcoin doesn't become the equivalent to swiss numbered bank accounts.” Mnuchin denies the implication that cash has been used for nefarious acts.
