Fintech startups CardCoins and Payvant are collectively offering a one-year grant to Hennadii Stepanov, a Bitcoin Core contributor, according to a blog post of CardCoins today. The sponsorship, which allows Stepanov to leave his university job and focus on Bitcoin Core, marks the two startups’ contributions to open-source bitcoin development.

The two firms are joining a list of crypto companies that provide financial endorsement to Bitcoin Core developers. Other companies include BitMEX, Bitfinex, OKCoin, and Xapo.
