Six new members were selected to join the New York State Digital Currency Task Force. Clyde Vanel, Assemblymember for NY state, announced the six new members to the group on July 22, 2019. The six members appointed were Joseph Lubin, co-founder of Ethereum, Sandra Ro, CEO of the Global Blockchain Business Council, Yaya Fanusie, a fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, and Ryan Zagonne, co-founder of blockchain at Microsoft Yorke Rhodes. The tasks force is said to consist of 13 members, seven which the governor will select and the six Assembly selected. Vanel stated that “New York leads the country in finance. We will also lead in proper fintech regulation. The task force of experts will help us strike the balance between having a robust blockchain industry and cryptocurrency economic environment while at the same time protecting New York investors and consumers.”
