OpenAI's board of directors has removed CEO Sam Altman from his position after they found that he "was not consistently candid in his communications with the board," the company said in a blog post on Friday. In the meantime, Mira Murati, the company's chief technology officer, will serve as interim CEO.

Following the announcement, OpenAI president Greg Brockman said in an X post he was resigning from the company.

Founded in 2015, OpenAI launched ChatGPT about a year ago, sparking a boom in AI technology. As of November, about 100 million people use ChatGPT every week as of November, according to reports by the company.
