A French court has dropped criminal charges against Platypus Finance hackers, according to the French newspaper Le Monde. In February of year, stablecoin trading project Platypus suffered a flash loan attack, resulting in a loss of approximately US$9 million. With the assistance of Binance and ZachXBT, the French National Police arrested two hackers a week later.

The court ruled that the charges related to unauthorized access of a computer system did not apply because the defendants were accessing a publicly available smart contract. Additionally, the court determined that the defendant's use of Platypus's "emergency withdrawal" smart contract did not constitute fraud. As the fraud charges did not apply, the court also dropped charges related to money laundering and receiving stolen property.

However, despite being cleared of criminal charges, Platypus could still sue the hackers in civil court.
