A spokesman for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) said that the commission “determined that there was unauthorized access to” its X account “by an unknown party for a brief period of time shortly after 4 pm ET. That unauthorized access has been terminated.”

Previously, the Chair of the SEC had announced that their official Twitter account was compromised and that news that the bitcoin spot ETF was approved was untrue.
