J.K. Rowling replied to CoinDesk reporter on twitter by "I don't understand bitcoin. Please explain it to me," earlier this afternoon, after the reporter tweeted, "If she ever pings me I will *die* from happiness." Rowling's reply has won 1.4k retweets and 4.8k likes.

Vitalik Buterin, the co-founder of Ethereum, the world's second-largest cryptocurrency by market cap, answered the Harry Potter universe creator and the highest-earning author in the world.

"It's a digital currency. There's ~18m units of it. It's not backed by anything, it's just valuable because it is, like collectibles," wrote Buterin. "People find it interesting because there is no central authority that controls this network, so there's no single group of people that can just go and issue more units to their friends or manipulate its rules for political reasons."
