Neel Kashkari, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, said in a speech that once inflation continues to fall back to 2%, the United States can cut interest rates.

Kashkari reiterated the need to be patient and wait until he is confident that inflation is falling, possibly not until 2025 before cutting interest rates.

Asked whether it would be appropriate to keep interest rates unchanged this year given the unexpected rise in recent inflation data, Kashkari said it was "possible."
