Ethereum has lagged the broader cryptocurrency market this year, but its long-term positioning remains strong and a surprise upside potential is possible, Coinbase (COIN) said in a research note on Wednesday. 

“Ethereum could see unexpected gains in the coming months,” the report said, noting that the cryptocurrency does not have “major sources of supply-side excess,” such as pressure from token unlocks or miner sales.
