Blockchain analysis company CipherBlade published an article saying that the Wall Street Journal had previously used a flawed survey method to overestimate the extent to which cryptocurrency exchange ShapeShift was suspected of money laundering. According to reports, the Wall Street Journal published a survey in the fall of 2018 that the exchange ShapeShift contributed $9 million in money laundering through cryptocurrency, allegedly more than any exchange in the US office set up by the Wall Street Journal. The Wall Street Journal claims that the exchange has processed millions of dollars in proceeds of crime, a large part of which is said to be converted into privacy, such as Monero (XMR).
