Trump Reveals Millions in Ethereum Holdings, Boosting Pro-Crypto 2024 Campaign

Donald Trump, the former U.S. president and 2024 presidential candidate, has disclosed holdings of between $1 million and $5 million worth of Ethereum (ETH) in a financial document obtained by Citizens for Ethics. The cryptocurrency is stored in a hardware wallet, reflecting Trump's growing involvement in digital assets. Alongside Ethereum, Trump has earned over $7.15 million from a licensing agreement for the "Trump Digital Trading Cards" NFTs, which depict him in various heroic scenarios.

In addition to his Ethereum holdings, estimates from Arkham Intelligence suggest Trump’s cryptocurrency portfolio totals $3.6 million. This includes $1.29 million in Ethereum, $986,000 in Wrapped Ethereum, and $372,000 in the meme coin Trog, a frog-themed coin linked to Trump. Despite these holdings, Trump's overall crypto assets represent a small fraction of his estimated $7.5 billion net worth.

Trump has positioned himself as a pro-crypto candidate in the 2024 election, advocating for the digital asset industry. His platform includes ending what he calls the current administration's "anti-crypto crusade," firing SEC Chair Gary Gensler, and establishing a strategic Bitcoin reserve. While cryptocurrency is not a central theme in the Republican Party’s platform, Trump's stance contrasts with his Democratic rival, Kamala Harris, who has not made public statements on the matter.
