Sony Block Solutions Labs' Ethereum Layer 2 project, Soneium, has partnered with web3 payments infrastructure provider Transak to offer fiat on-ramp services globally. This collaboration will allow users to utilize traditional payment methods to onboard into the Soneium ecosystem, particularly benefiting the gaming industry.

Through this partnership, gamers can purchase, transfer, and trade in-game assets and NFTs using fiat currency, making blockchain technology more accessible to mainstream users. Soneium aims to bridge the gap between Web2 and Web3, enhancing user experiences in gaming and entertainment sectors.

Transak, which operates in 160 countries and supports over 350 applications, continues to expand its services following recent collaborations, including one with Uniswap in July 2024. The Soneium blockchain is developed on the Op Stack and is supported by notable entities like Circle, Optimism, Alchemy, and The Graph.
