At a Sept. 12 hearing, Judge Lewis Kaplan of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York questioned whether former FTX Digital Markets co-CEO Ryan Salame committed perjury during his guilty plea. Salame had admitted to unlawful political contributions, defrauding the Federal Election Commission, and conspiring to operate an unlicensed money-transmitting business. However, he suggested he had an undisclosed agreement with prosecutors, which conflicted with his earlier testimony.

Salame, previously sentenced to 90 months in prison, withdrew an earlier motion to vacate his plea but now faces scrutiny over the inconsistencies. Judge Kaplan is considering vacating the plea and will issue a ruling later. Salame’s prison reporting date has been moved to Oct. 11.
