Open interest in XRP has surged past $1 billion amid rising excitement over Ripple's development of the RLUSD stablecoin, which is currently in private beta on the XRP Ledger and Ethereum blockchain. Recent minting activities suggest the project is moving into a more advanced phase, driving speculation and interest in XRP futures, which reached levels last seen in March and June of last year.

Ripple plans to use RLUSD to enhance cross-border payments, providing liquidity and integrating with decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols. XRP's price has risen 7.4% in the past week, outperforming Bitcoin and the broader crypto market.
