Uniswap Labs, the company behind the popular decentralized exchange Uniswap, has introduced a new blockchain network called Unichain.
In a press release, Uniswap Labs stated that after years of building and growing DeFi products, they identified areas where the DeFi ecosystem needed improvement and how to further advance the Ethereum expansion roadmap. Unichain, a fast, decentralized Optimism superchain L2, aims to become a hub for cross-chain DeFi and liquidity.
To achieve a block time of one second, Unichain will leverage Flashbot's Rollup Boost solution. The Unichain testnet is now live, with the mainnet launch expected later this year.
The Uniswap Foundation will provide funding and support to developers looking to build applications on Unichain, fostering a vibrant ecosystem around the new network.
