Ethereum's developers have finally set a timeline for the network's next major overhaul, Pectra. This upgrade, scheduled for March 2025, promises to deliver a suite of speed and efficiency improvements to the world's second-largest blockchain. The announcement was made during a virtual developer meeting on Thursday.
Pectra is a comprehensive package of eight Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) that address wallet, staking, and network efficiency. Developers plan to test Pectra on Ethereum's Sepolia and Holesky testnets throughout February. If all goes well, the upgrade will be rolled out to the mainnet in early to mid-March.
