The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has announced the formation of a new crypto asset task force, aimed at developing a comprehensive and clear regulatory framework for the burgeoning digital asset industry.
The task force will be led by SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce, often referred to as the "Crypto Mom" for her generally supportive stance on digital assets. Joining Peirce will be Richard Gabbert, a senior advisor to the acting chair, who will serve as the task force's chief of staff, and Taylor Asher, a senior policy advisor, who will take on the role of chief policy advisor.
The group's primary focus will be to help the commission establish a clear regulatory path, provide practical pathways for registration, develop sensible disclosure frameworks, and deploy enforcement resources judiciously.
