Minister of Digitalization and Public Administration Karianne Tung stated that the Labor government is determined to limit Norway's cryptocurrency mining activities as much as possible, as cryptocurrency mining is very energy-intensive and creates minimal job opportunities and income for local communities. The government indicated that this temporary ban may be implemented in the fall of 2025.
