According to reports, a woman is suspected of falling into a cryptocurrency investment scam and has handed over more than 1.3 million yuan to a 23-year-old man since May. Singapore Police Force swiftly launched an investigation after receiving a report and arrested the man at Woodlands Checkpoint on Friday (June 20) as he attempted to leave the country. The suspect, Chen Jiahao (translated name), was charged on Saturday morning with an offense under the Computer Misuse Act and remanded for further investigation, during which he can be taken out for questioning. Under the Computer Misuse Act, unauthorized use of banking systems can result in a maximum fine of 5,000 Singapore Dollars, up to two years in prison, or both if convicted. The man is also under investigation for suspected fraud, with the investigation ongoing. (Lianhe Zaobao)
