According to sources, US Treasury Secretary Mnuchin stated that Trump will decide whether to extend negotiations with trading partners beyond the deadline of July 9. Mnuchin, when asked on CNBC if the deadline could be extended, said: 'We will act according to the President's wishes, and it will be up to him to decide if they are negotiating in good faith.'

Mnuchin mentioned meeting with the EU trade representative on Thursday morning and noted that US Trade Representative Lighthizer will be working with European officials over the weekend. Regarding negotiations with Japan, Mnuchin mentioned that no agreement has been reached yet, possibly due to complications arising from domestic politics in Japan.

Regarding Vietnam, Mnuchin stated that his understanding is that a principle agreement has been reached, with Trump's announced 20% tariffs being a core part of the agreement, which will not be in addition to the existing 10% general tariffs.
