According to Cointelegraph, Roman Storm, co-founder and developer of the Tornado Cash cryptocurrency mixing service, is set to appear in a New York court on July 14, facing charges of money laundering and conspiracy. With less than two weeks until the criminal trial in the U.S., Storm stated in a video interview that his legal team plans to address accusations of personally profiting from illicit funds through his role at Tornado Cash. However, he declined to disclose whether he will testify in his defense, stating 'I don't have a 100% answer yet. I might or might not.' Storm has been under indictment by U.S. authorities since 2023, and about a year ago, the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the Treasury Department sanctioned addresses associated with Tornado Cash. Government agencies allege that the mixing service facilitated money laundering of cryptocurrencies stolen by North Korean hackers.
