According to US tech media The Verge, Microsoft (MSFT.O) and OpenAI are on the brink of a dramatic shift in their complex relationship. As they renegotiate their contract to allow OpenAI to restructure as a for-profit company, OpenAI is preparing to release an open language model, which could further strain the relationship between the two companies.
Sources revealed that the AI lab led by Sam Altman is set to release an open weight model next week, which will not only be available on OpenAI and Microsoft Azure servers, but also open to other cloud service providers.
