According to reports, former Chief Legal Officer of Bitfury, Jonathan Gould, has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate with a vote of 50-45 to serve as the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). The appointment is pending final approval from President Trump. Gould previously served as Senior Deputy Comptroller at the OCC from 2017-2020 and most recently worked at the blockchain company Bitfury. Of note, crypto-friendly Senator Cynthia Lummis initially voted against Gould during procedural voting, citing the need for further discussions on stablecoin legislation and federal banking law priorities, but ultimately switched to support him in the final vote.
