According to Jinshi, after SpaceX prepares to invest $2 billion in xAI, Musk stated that Tesla plans to hold a shareholder vote on whether to invest in xAI. Musk responded to a post on X, saying that any decision to support xAI ultimately is not up to him. Musk publicly asked X users last year whether Tesla should invest $5 billion in xAI, stating he was just testing the waters. However, he noted that Tesla's board and supporters would need to give the green light for this decision. In April this year, Tesla disclosed that xAI was a customer of Tesla last year, with business, consulting, and support agreements generating $188.3 million in expenses. Most of this transaction ($191 million) involved xAI purchasing Tesla's utility-scale energy storage battery Megapack.
