Former rugby player Shane Donovan Moore has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison for operating a cryptocurrency mining Ponzi scheme. Between 2021 and 2022, Moore defrauded over 40 investors of more than $900,000 through his company Quantum Donovan, promising a 1% daily return which was actually using new investors' funds to pay old debts. Investigations revealed that Moore used the funds to purchase luxury apartments, designer handbags, and other personal expenses. A federal judge in Seattle noted that his actions not only caused financial losses but also inflicted psychological trauma on the victims.
